• Green building - Topics that will be covered are wind power generators, rainwater harvesting, recycled wood flooring, permeable pavement, and constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment.
• Ethics for Architects - This course will review such topics as conflicts of interest, duties and obligations towards the public, accessibility of records, case studies, and making ethical judgements.
• Mold Prevention - Now that mold is a hot topic in the construction industry, this course will cover sources of mold, new construction and mold, rightsizing, standards and regulations, liability, and litigation.
• Using Gypsum in New Construction - This continuing education course provides current information on drywall and veneer plaster construction, coventional lath and plaster construction, suspended accoustical ceiling systems, and general construction.

These are the current requirements for renewing your South Carolina Architects license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.


• To renew your Architect License in the state of South Carolina, you are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education every year.
• Eight of these hours must be in topics related to health, safety, and welfare of the public. The remaining fours hours may be in an elective topic related to the practice of architecture.
• If an architect exceeds the continuing education requirements, they may carry over a maximum of 12 hours to the next renewal cycle.
• Licensees are responsible for maintaining records of course completion for a minimum of one year. The Board will randomly select a number of architects to audit. Upon request of the Board, the licensee shall submit documentation verifying continuing education requirements have been met.
